What’s at Stake?
The maximum penalty in Oregon for a Misdemeanor DUII is one year in jail, a $6,250.00 fine, and five years probation.  The minimum fine is $1,000.00.  Additional costs, such as increased insurance rates and lost wages can have a significant financial impact.  These daunting repercussions mean that it is paramount that you secure an experienced DUII attorney.

Charges Defined
Legal terminology varies by state, however, in Oregon, DUII is the accepted term.  DUII means that a driver is impaired by drugs or alcohol, specifically “Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.”  Other states refer to DUII, DUI, and DWI as acronyms that have the same meaning.  Specific variations, such as DUID and DUII-CS, are used for situations when a driver is arrested for driving while under the influence of intoxicants (e.g., controlled substances, such as marijuana).

The charge of felony DUII is applied to individuals who have been convicted of DUII three or more times in the past ten (10) years.  These convictions carry a much more severe penalty, including a possibility of five (5) years in prison, and a lifetime revocation of your driver’s license.  The DUII laws in Oregon have been created to protect innocent drivers.
